The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Climate Resilient Agriculture Office (CRAO), alongside the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), co-organized the National Workshop on Article 6 Implementation in Agrifood Systems taking place today, November 27, 2025, in Quezon City. This event is a key activity under the FAO Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) project FAO TCP/RAS/3903, titled “Strengthening the Capacity of Policy Makers to Mobilize Investment for Resilient and Low-Emission Agrifood Systems in Asia under Article 6 of the UNFCCC Paris Agreement.”
The primary aim of this initiative is to enhance stakeholders’ capacity to mobilize resources for resilient, low-emission agrifood systems through the use of Article 6 instruments under the Paris Agreement. To achieve this, the workshop is designed to build a comprehensive understanding of global and regional climate policy frameworks under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The workshop features the presentation and validation of the draft national readiness roadmaps. This session allows key players to review institutional roles and priority actions, ensuring strong stakeholder engagement and alignment with national priorities for Article 6 implementation in the agrifood sector.
Technical dialogues involve the Rice and Livestock groups, various DA bureaus, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Climate Change Commission (CCC). These agencies are collaborating to identify specific gaps and opportunities, ensuring the roadmap is both actionable and responsive to the needs of the Philippine agriculture sector.##
