The Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) through the DA Systems-Wide Climate Change Office (DASWCCO) held a consultation meeting with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and partners from DA and DAR, civil society, and research institutions last August 30, 2017 at the PPO Conference Room, Department of Agriculture, Quezon City.
A Country Program is being envisioned for the Philippines to put forward to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and the upscaling of AMIA is one important part of the said proposal. The GCF is a financial mechanism under the United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as an accredited Multilateral Implementing Entity (MIE), was nominated by the Department to be a partner in the development of project proposals for submission to the GCF. A draft Concept Note for the purpose had been prepared which was discussed by the team of experts from the FAO Investment Centre in Rome, the FAO Regional Office in Bangkok, and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) in the consultation with key stakeholders and potential partners for the said GCF proposal.
