The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) represented by Elena Zheglova, NAP-Ag MOOC Project Lead and Lorenzo Franchi, the video producer went on a five-day field visit to the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) Villages in Guinayangan, Quezon and Gerona, Tarlac from October 16-20, 2017 together with the DASWCCO-AMIA Team.

UNITAR filmed the AMIA Villages to give voice to the lives of the farmers in building climate-resilient agricultural systems from testing various adaptation technologies, generation and application of localized weather information in farming to development of diversified livelihood technologies and doing these as a community. The video will show how AMIA, along with partners from the local government and civil society work together to empower the local farmers and fisher folks in addressing the risks brought about by climate change. The short film will be part of UNITAR’s Massive Open Online Course on National Adaptation Plans: Building Climate Resilience in Agriculture, with some 6,000 enrollees online around the world.

From the microsite:

The NAP-Ag MOOC is presented as part of the Integrating Agriculture in National Adaptation Plans (NAP-AG) Programme and is a joint effort between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). It is being made possible by the generous funding of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) through its International Climate Initiative (IKI).
