The Department of Agriculture Climate Resilient Agriculture Office (DA CRAO) emphasizes its commitment to supporting efforts related to promoting climate information service (CIS) as it participated in the Innovation Packaging and Scaling Readiness (IPSR) Workshop for the Rice Crop Manager Advisory Service (RCMAS) Climate+, an upgrade to the digital agriculture application RCMAS used for improved crop and farm data management for Filipino rice farmers.
The one-day event, organized by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) under OneCGIAR’s Climate Resilience Initiative, or ClimBeR, took place in Legazpi City on January 23, 2023.
Senior Technical Officer Perla Baltazar represented DA CRAO during the event, engaging in discussions related to issues, challenges, and ways forward on scaling up the utilization of RCMAS Climate+. The upgraded platform is a link of RCMAS and the Agro-climatic Advisory Portal of the Bicol Region (ACAP-Bicol), a digital CIS platform developed by DA Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) Regional Field Office (RFO) 5 in partnership with the University of the Philippines Los Baños Foundation Inc. (UPLBFI).
The workshop was attended by representatives from other DA offices and various organizations, including the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), DA Field Programs Operational Planning Division, University of the Philippines Los Baños Foundation Inc. (UPLBFI), CamSur Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CamSur MPC), DA-PhilRice Research Institute-Bicol, ADVANTA, Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA), DA- Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), DA-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), and DA RFO 5. ###
