Capturing Climate-Resilient Agriculture (CRA), Women’s Edition Photo Contest
In celebration of #NationalWomensMonth2024, the DA Climate Resilient Agriculture Office (CRAO) under the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) Program is holding a photo contest titled, “Capturing Climate-Resilient Agriculture (CRA), Women’s Edition.”.
This contest seeks to spotlight the invaluable contributions of AMIA women in building resilience, emphasizing their pivotal roles in promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices and technologies and fostering resilient communities. Moreover, it aims to showcase the commitment of AMIA Villages to upholding gender equality and inclusivity.

Yes, women farm.
Yes, women farm. Grace B. Bacangan of the Buguias AMIA Village showcased the proceeds from vegetables planted in her greenhouse. The protected structure shelters crops from climatic hazards and increases cropping intensity.
Accordingly, using her extra income from her produce, she opted to add more materials to widen the structure to accommodate more crops for consumption and commercialization.

By harnessing local resources, they produce nutritious feed tailored to their environment, promoting sustainability and resilience in farming practices. These women exemplify the power of community-driven solutions in adapting to and mitigating the impacts of climate change on agriculture.

Cagayan Valley Region
Charlotte Ancheta.
Ms. Charlotte Ancheta is a resident of Lucban, Benito Soliven, Isabela, where the pilot AMIA village in Region 02 was established.
She has been serving the Lucban Small Water Irrigation System Association, the association behind the village, for more than six years.
Ms. Ancheta has a strong ability to withstand any challenge. She practiced planting hybrid tolerant varieties to mitigate the impact of climate hazards, vegetable backyard gardening, and swine production to have additional sources of income for her family.
This strategy has strongly encouraged her members to emulate. The fruits of hard work and determination of a woman are success of everyone.

Cagayan Valley Region
Hedie Arsenia R. Marquez.
She serves as a role model for aspiring women, inspiring them to pursue their passion, encouraging women to take on leadership roles, and making a meaningful impact in the agriculture sector. Through her work, she showcases the vital role that women play in ensuring food security, sustainable farming practices, and rural development.
Her resourcefulness and forward-thinking approach as a leader are key to the success of the established AMIA village in increasing productivity and income amidst the impact of climate change.

Empowered AMIA Women Nurturing Diversified Farming.
Through diversified farming, vulnerable areas cultivate resilience, sustainability, and hope for a brighter future.
Diversified farming stands as a linchpin of resilience and sustainability in vulnerable areas, offering a holistic solution to the complex challenges faced by farmers and their communities.
As women embrace diversified farming practices, vulnerable areas can enhance their capacity to adapt to environmental uncertainties, sustain agricultural productivity, conserve natural resources, preserve biodiversity, ensure food security, promote economic resilience, and empower communities.
As a woman, let us navigate an increasingly uncertain and volatile world through diversified farming, offering a pathway to a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future for all.

Proseso Tungo sa Pag-asenso.
Rainshelter, minsan taniman, madalas bilaran ng tapa. Ito ang isa mga natatanging innovation ng AMIA Program na ginagamit ng Alas Farmers Cooperative (AFC) sa AMIA Village ng Brgy. Alas, Mandaon, Masbate. Kilala ang probinsya bilang Livestock Capital ng Rehiyon. Ginagamit ang rainshelter sa pagbibilad ng mga tapa ng ating masisipag na kababaihang magbabaka tungo sa dekalidad na tapa para sa sapat na kita. Malaking tulong din ang teknolohiyang ito sa pagpapadali ng pagproceso ng hindi gumagamit ng elektrisidad. (Mga nasa larawan (mula kaliwa): Ma. Jasmin I. Ros, miyembro ng AFC, at Myrna R. Bicol Region
AMIA Super Women Champion Integrated Farming.
From 2022 to 2024, the AMIA Village in Joroan, Tiwi, Albay was able to produce and sell 244, 633 eggs! The women-led association transformed the community into JoroanVille where Integrated Farming (Poultry, Livestock, Crops, Production and Processing) is being showcased directly addressing the impact of climate change to the livelihood of the farmers. The association also produced the first Philippine Resilience Awardee for Women in the Region. From zero assets and not well known, the association booms, becoming one of the trusted partners of DA-RFO 5 and LGU-Tiwi. (In the picture: Ms. Airen Nocomora)

Kababaihang Magsasaka: Tagataguyod ng Crop Rotation at Varietadong Pagtatanim.
Sa larawan na ito, makikita natin ang kabayanihan ng mga kababaihang magsasaka sa AMIA Village ng Brgy. Biong, Gigmoto, Catanduanes. Ang kasalukuyang tanim na palay Green Super Rice 11, isa sa mga magagandang uri ng palay na pinaparami ng benepisyaryo ng AMIA dahil sa ito ay kinakayahan na mabuhay kahit na may tubig alat, kakulangan sa patubig, o kaya naman ay labis na pagkalubog sa tubig. Sinusundan ito ng mga pagtatanim ng gulay. Ang crop rotation ay isang susi sa pagrekober, pagpapanatili ng kalusugan at produktibidad ng sakahan. (Sa larawan ay sina Donilyn A. Chavez, Elisa T. Women-led AMIA Village: Rainshelter for Wet Season, BioMulch for Dry Season.
In the AMIA village in Brgy. Alayao, Capalonga, Camarines Norte, the women-led and advocates turned a 2,000 m2 former rice field into a community vegetable garden showcasing two Climate Resilient Agriculture Practices: rainshelter and use of biomulch such as rice hull. With too much water during the wet season, and too little water during the dry season, the community was able to adapt with the use of the technologies, thereby producing and increasing access to fresh vegetables in the community. AMIA Kabogera: Lumalaban sa Pagbabago ng Klima!
Salat man sa tubig tuwing tag-init, sagana pa rin ang ating AMIA Kabogera Ginang Sonia S. Yebra mula Labnig, Paracale, Camarines Norte na kumikita ng PhP 31,500 mula sa kanyang 3,000m2 na taniman. Sa tulong ng Climate Information Services na binibigay ng AMIA, gabay ito ni Gng. Yebra para matukoy kung anong posibleng pananim ang higit na angkop para sa tinatayang panahon. Dagdagan pa ang kaalaman sa Climate Resilient Farmers Field School na ginagawa ng AMIA katuwang LGU Paracale, sa panahon ng tag-ulan, Rice Crop Manager naman ang bala ng ating AMIA Kabogera.

Western Visayas Region
Resilient Woman Farmer: A Beacon of Strength and Leadership. Mercy Bayoneta, a farmer, mother, and chairperson of M. Chavez Unified Farmers Association (MUFA) and San Lorenzo AMIA Village Farmers Association (SLAVFA), is a resilient and dedicated woman in a rural community. She embodies the spirit of perseverance, finding innovative solutions to overcome adversity. Mercy's leadership extends beyond the fields, ensuring every member feels valued and supported. She started initiatives like vermicomposting and promoting the idea of meetings and training to diversify income sources. She continues to encourage SLAVFA members, especially during water scarcity, and sustains their organic vegetable production. Mercy instills in her children the values of hard work and resilience, showing them that farming is not just a livelihood, but a way of life filled with opportunities for growth and prosperity. Her commitment to ethical governance earns her respect and admiration from her peers.

It underscores their indispensable contributions to global food security and their profound influence on the adoption of sustainable farming methods. Central Visayas
Gracita Padayhag. Ms. Gracita Padayhag embodies the spirit of women empowerment and resilience in the face of climate challenges through her leadership at the Tubod Vegetable Growers Association (TVEGA) in the AMIA site, San Juan, Siquijor. As an officer, she stands as a model of equality, working alongside her female colleagues and male counterparts with equal fervor in all association enterprise activities. Her dedication extends beyond mere participation; she actively ensures that every member, regardless of gender, receives equitable opportunities and responsibilities. In a landscape where climate change poses significant threats to agriculture, her inclusive approach not only strengthens the association's resilience but also amplifies the voices of women in decision-making processes. Ms. Padayhag's commitment to gender parity and climate resiliency sets a powerful example, illustrating how empowering women can lead to more sustainable and resilient communities in the face of environmental challenges.

Empowering Agriculture: Jocelyn Calvo's Role in Advancing Climate Resilience and Women's Empowerment. Ma'am Jocelyn Calvo, an officer of the Lahug-Mantalongon Farmers Association (LAMFA), stands as a beacon for climate-resilient agriculture and women's empowerment. Within LAMFA, she spearheads the adoption of technology, showcasing its efficacy in farming practices. Her efforts extend beyond organizational boundaries, actively promoting climate resilience within her community. By embodying sustainable farming methods, she sets a precedent for others to follow. Jocelyn's multifaceted leadership underscores the importance of innovation, education, and community engagement in building a more resilient agricultural sector.

Davao Region
Unwavering dedication on her commitments. Mainstreaming Climate Resilient Agriculture is not easy, but with her unwavering dedication, she helped countless farmers particularly those part of AMIA Villages in the province of Davao Oriental.
