LUCBAN, BENITO SOLIVEN, ISABELA — The Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative and Agriculture (AMIA) Program is seeking possible interventions amidst climate change effect.

Barangay Lucban in Benito Soliven, Isabela is one of the recipients of the program. One of the identified interventions during the conduct of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) last June-August 2017 is the mechanization project to be provided by the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) NO. 02.

The Mechanization Unit of the DA-RFO 02 in collaboration with the Municipal Local Government Unit (MGLU) of Benito Soliven, Isabela through Engr. Edmund Gauiran, AMIA Project Leader of AMIA Village Lucban, established Technology Demonstration on Rice Mechanization using Ride-on type mechanical direct seeder last August 8, 2018.

Pioneer Hybrid seeds were used with a seeding rate of 40 kilograms per hectare.

This project is the first ever mechanical direct seeder in the municipality.

Barangay Lucban consists of 80 hectares of rice land. “We believe that rice area will soon be expanded for there are still possible expansion areas in the barangay through the introduction of the mechanization Project”, said by Mr. Sonny Camonayan, Lucban SWISA President.

The officers of Lucban SWISA attended various training to support the said project through the Community-based Action Research for Climate Resilient Agriculture in Cagayan Valley under the AMIA Project.

This is an emblem of unity and cooperation between and among the AMIA members, LGU officials, AMIA Technical staff and DA as a whole. This a convergence project that inspires the farmers in the locality. This project also supports the existing project components of the AMIA Village.
