From RFO 11 Correspondent: Mr. Chum Fernandez

“Seeing makes one more believing” as the CRA AMIA farmer-cooperators with city agriculture technicians, faculty from the University of Southeastern Philippines and the DA XI CRA Project Team had to learn exposure to CARAGA region particularly in Surigao del Sur. The team initially visited the Research Center in Trento, Agusan on their edible landscaping, organic fertilizer using vermicompost, goat and forage production, duck raising. 

The next stop for visitation is at Jenayon’s farm where we were briefed on duck raising by the owner himself, Mr. Jenayon. 

The third stop for visitation was Mejares’ Organic Farm where we were toured and briefed by the owner Mrs. Mejares on her 10 month-old ongoing transformations of a typical farm into an agri-ecotourism farm 4 Britania and Almeda farm in San Agustin, warmly welcomed by the owner Vice Governor Almeda, shared his insights in value adding, organic technologies and agri-ecotourism, which enriched the farmers with real experiences and happiness as they journey through the CRA AMIA’s climate resilient farmer field schools.

The visitations ended successfully. We are specially thanking the support of DA RFO 13 CARAGA research station; University of Southeastern Philippines for the vehicle, the city agriculturist of Davao, DA RFO XI, and research the research division of DA-BAR and DA-SWCCO.
