Lucban, Isabela – The AMIA Village in Lucban, Benito Soliven realized one of the targets of the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiatives in Agriculture (AMIA)-Community-based Action Research for Climate-resilient Agriculture in Cagayan Valley. This is a community-based research of DA-RFO 02 to support the Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation Program of the Department of Agriculture.


The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office 2 (BFAR RO 2) particularly Isabela Provincial Fishery Office (PFO) spearheaded the Harvest Field Day under the project entitled SWIP-based Tilapia Production last August 10, 2018. Said activity was being graced by Mr. Emerson Tattao and staff, Engr. Edmund Gauiran of MLGU Benito Soliven and participated by BLGU Lucban Officials, AMIA Officers, and members, SWISA Lucban Officials & members and farmers from nearby barangays.

Mr. Emerson Tattao, Provincial Fishery Officer of Isabela presented the economic analysis of Fishcage Tilapia Production in Lucban Small Water Impounding Project. BFAR provided 2 fish cages for the AMIA recipients with 1,500 fingerlings per cage. 

The Dragon Fruit Production, Mushroom Production, Gulayan sa Bakuran, Gulayan sa Paaralan and SWIP-based Tilapia Production are the identified feasible livelihood projects under AMIA. Said livelihood projects are being handled by Kabataan, Kababaihan-AMIA, Kababaihan-RIC, Lucban Elementary School, at Kalalakihan respectively. All of these were conducted to assess its feasibility considering the impacts of climate change in the area. Regular monitoring on all projects at Barangay Lucban are being conducted by AMIA Technical staff from DA-RFO 02, BFAR, PLGU Isabela and MLGU Benito Soliven. Recently, DA-SWCCO and UPLBFI visited the AMIA Villages to include AMIA Villages of Isabela last July 10-11, 2018.

AMIA Village at Santa Victoria of the City of Ilagan is also implementing various activities under AMIA. The Adaptation and Mitigation Initiatives in Agriculture (AMIA) aims to strengthen local communities in order to combat against the impacts of climate change while providing feasible livelihood and potential investment opportunities to all villages. DA-RFO 02 adopts multi-sectoral convergence strategy as an approach in providing various intervention to achieve the strategic objectives of AMIA.
